Most contractors can't promise that. Edwin can — in writing, before a single tile gets pulled.
Every job Edwin takes comes with this written commitment — not a handshake, not a "we'll see."
In Tucson, the average kitchen or bathroom remodel runs weeks past deadline and thousands over budget. It's rarely because remodeling is unpredictable — it's because most contractors work without accountability. No fixed scope. No milestone schedule. No change-order process. Just a handshake, a deposit, and a prayer.
"Mean what you say, and deliver what you promise." That's the whole idea behind Edwin's Promise.
Edwin built his entire process around one belief: accountability shouldn't be the exception in this industry — it should be the standard. Here's what that looks like on every job.
Kitchens and bathrooms are the details-heavy rooms where sloppy work shows. Edwin brings you the type of premium quality you'll proudly show off for the next twenty years.
To understand A Helping Hand, you have to understand the family that built the man behind it.
Edwin's story actually began in Michigan, where he was born. But when tragedy struck and he lost his father at just two years old, his family's path changed forever. Looking for support and a new beginning, Edwin's mother migrated the family out West to Tucson to live with his grandfather, a Michigan native who had previously moved to the desert in the 1950s to find relief from severe rheumatoid arthritis.
Tucson became the place where Edwin would be raised, grounded in the strength of an extended family. His grandfather stepped in immediately to help raise him, ensuring the young boy had a strong male figure from day one. Later, Edwin was blessed with another incredible mentor: his stepfather, who took him in, loved him, and raised him completely as his own.
Growing up on his stepfather's land in a local trailer park, Edwin didn't see lack — he saw love, grit, and a masterclass in work ethic. Surrounded by strong, honest men who woke up every day ready to give their all, Edwin learned early on that a man's circumstances don't define him, but his character does.
“If you do a job, you might as well do it right. And if you are contracted out to work for a man, give your all.”
Those weren't just phrases Edwin heard growing up; they were the law of the house. The men who raised Edwin — the grandfather who welcomed them into his home, and the stepfather who raised him as his own — taught him that your name is the most valuable thing you will ever own, and your word is a contract written in stone.
When Edwin later entered the handyman industry, he was shocked to see companies delaying jobs, cutting corners, and treating clients' homes with disrespect. It all came to a head when a previous employer asked him to use inferior materials to save a buck. Edwin walked away. He couldn't look a homeowner in the eye and break the code of honor passed down by the men who shaped him.
That is why he founded A Helping Hand. It wasn't just to start a business; it was to preserve a legacy of integrity.
Four simple words that mean everything to Tucson area homeowners. Because of the family who raised him, Edwin believes in absolute accountability. When he gives you a timeline and a price, you can hold him to it. No games, no excuses — just old-school, honest work from a neighbor who keeps his word.

An estimate is a guess. A fixed-price scope is a commitment — every task, material, and finish in writing. If it's not in the scope, it doesn't exist.
Edwin's standard: Signed before any work begins."About two weeks" isn't a schedule. Demo Tuesday, rough-in Wednesday, inspection Friday — that's a schedule. Milestones create checkpoints, and checkpoints create accountability.
Edwin's standard: Delivered before the deposit clears.Surprises happen. The question is whether there's a system. Edwin presents any change in writing — with revised price and timeline — before doing the work, not on the final invoice.
Edwin's standard: Nothing extra without your signed approval.Never pay for work that isn't done. Draws are tied to finished milestones — so if the project stalls, so do the payments. Your leverage stays intact.
Edwin's standard: No more than 30% upfront.A one-minute end-of-day update: "Finished tile on the north wall, grout tomorrow, on schedule." You never have to chase Edwin for an update.
Edwin's standard: Daily progress updates, always.Every surface and fixture inspected together, with a written punch list for anything that isn't right. Final payment releases only after the list is complete.
Edwin's standard: Signed off by both parties. The job proves itself over time. A minimum 12-month workmanship warranty — with Edwin's direct number, not a generic email nobody checks.
Edwin's standard: All work warrantied.Hand this list to every contractor bidding your job. The one who nods and says that line is the one worth hiring. With Edwin, it's already the standard.
